Day Trip’s

There are some amazing day trip’s if you have your own car…. the choices are endless but here are a few suggestions for day trips from Morzine.

Chamonix is just 50 minutes drive away. Take the Aigiulle du Midi cables car up to the spectacular height of 3800 metres and look out onto Mont Blanc – be sure to take your camera as the views are just absolutely breath taking.

The Spa town Evian and Thonon on the shores of Lake Geneva are easily accessible by car or public bus. Either relax at one of the ‘beaches’ or take the steamer service across the lake to the other towns – a great way to explore! Annecy is approximately an hour and 10 minutes away by car and is a beautiful university town; focal point being the huge lake. Take a pedalo out or charter a motor boat! For more energetic you can wind surf and wake board too!

For a great day out swimming and relaxing by lake Anncey is the small village of Talloire which has a baby pool and diving boards into the lake. There is a cafe for refreshments or we can make up a picnic for you. On the way back stop in Annecy for dinner or icecreams in the old town.

Excenevex offers you a ‘seaside’ with out driving to the sea! This beach on the lake is great and stays shallow for a vast swim area so great for young kids. Pedalos, mini bungie, playground, kids ride,  ice creams, beach snack bars and restaurants make this a great day out. You could also visit the beautiful, neighbouring town of Yvoire – a walled medieval delight with quaint restaurants, shops and the jetty onto the lake. Sciez hugs the other side of Excenevex and is a quiet pebble shore for swimming in the lake. Crystal clear waters and mini festivals make this a lovely spot.

The Montreaux Jazz festival is held every summer for 2 weeks and is a fantastic place to visit at this time. Street stalls line the lake’s edge and musicians play along side in the afternoon sand evenings unti;l the sun sets. There are venue’s all along the lake here with ticketed gigs – usually amazing line ups announced in April.

Not forgetting the town of Geneva. The old town is a beautiful cobbled haven of cafes, shops, galleries, cathedrals and history.
